Why is Swine Flu (H1N1) more worrisome than the standard flu?

If tens of thousands of people die every year from the standard flu virus why are we suddenly so much more worried about the Swine Flu? Does it have a higher mortality rate? Is it far more contagious than standard variations?

Because it is a combination of the regular flu, the Avian Flu and Swine Flu. This virus has never been seen before, there is no shot that can prevent it, and there is only a limited amount of medicine to treat it. Because it is a new virus, we have no natural immunity from it and therefore we are vulnerable to becoming infected. Yes, it is extremely contagious.
